Client Comments -what they say about us

We currently have happy clients on Six continents, 34 countries, all 50 states and every Canadian province! Our clients become our friends and many of them refer their friends to us! If you know a fly fisher in Antarctica, we would love to talk to them!

... Here is what they have to say ! ...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is our "Picture of the Month" submitted by Lord of the Streams multiple-rod owner, Jason Ah Sam of Highton, Victoria, Australia. This picture will stay here until we receive a worthy replacement. Simply put, we have never caught a Brown anywhere close to this and are extremely impressed!

This beautiful Brown was caught on Jason's Lord of the Streams custom Sage! Thank you for sending the picture Jason!

We now have an equally impressive "Picture of the Month"submitted by Mark Cornell of

Christchurch, New Zealand. He sends us pictures of so many trophy fish. His fishing skills are outstanding. Mark is another Lord of the Streams multiple rod owner.

"Thank you for the picture Mark!

"Wow, Great Fly Rod. I really like the new X action. Sage makes a great blank but you make it a precision instrument. The way the ferules fit and the finish is perfect. The guides are absolutely perfect and the handle is exquisite. The full wells handle fits my hand beautifully. I loaded a SA Shark Wave GPX on to a Nautilus FWX 5/6 and the line flew effortlessly to 60'. I have a few factory made Sage Ones and my biggest complaint is the small guides. SA GPX 8wt line will not slide through my 8wt Sage One guides. The biggest opposition to custom rods that I hear is, if you break it the factory won't fix it. First of all I have never broken a fly rod. A lot of anglers have a myriad of extenuating circumstances that lead to the damaging of a fly rod. On several trips every summer we fish from canoes. Hoping in and out of the canoe all day with the rods bungied to the seats or lining the boat down rapids or up and down the river bank we have never damaged a rod. Thanks so much, I love the rod. "Made in USA" Right on Brother. God Bless, travel safe and good luck. Rich."

Rich also bought a custom SAGE 5 weight rod. Here is what he says about that.

"Hey Bob, WOW, awesome, the rod is a work of art. (SAGE ONE 590-4 with grouse feather inlay) Thanks so very much... Thanks again. "

Rich Causley, Pickford, Michigan

"... received the rod today, (custom SAGE ONE 696-4) what can I say it is superb. The finish and detailing is absolutely first class, well beyond my expectations. I'm running out of superlatives, needless to say I'm extremely happy with my purchase, it does however make my standard Z axis look ....., ordinary.

Many thanks Bob I wish you a very happy Xmas.

Kind Regards,

Mick Walker (Dartford, Kent, UK)

Please put my endorsement on your web site, let's spread the word."

Bob,

"I received the rod today and it looked absolutely amazing!!! (Custom SAGE ONE 590-4)

Thanks again for excellent craftsmanship and great service.

I will send you a photo after my trip to Kola peninsula next summer. Week 31.

Hope to catch some trophy fish to show of with the rod."

Kenneth McRae from Massachusetts, fishing with his new Sage ONE 9' 9 weight from Lord of the Streams, caught this beautiful Stripper!

Thanks for the great picture Kenneth!

"Hello Bob,

I just want to say the new rod is amazing. I used it for the first time on my trip to New York-Lake Ontario Tribs and loved it. I attached a picture of one of the Browns I caught. This one was 28 inches but didn't get a weight on it. I also landed a 31 inch male that made this one look tin but didn't have a camera handy. (Completely bummed out about that) But I love the rod and I'm looking forward to having you build my 3 wt.Thanks Again,

"Bob

My rod arrived and I am not sure if I want to put it on the wall or fish with it. It is a thing of beauty. Your advise regarding the seat was 100% right. Our trout season stars next Saturday and you can be sure I will be the proudest angler on the river. I will send some pics.

Dealing with you has been fantastic and the end result suburb. I am sure there will be more rods bound for Rhode Island in the near future.

Thanks again for the wonderful work, the pleasure of meeting you and I hope you and your family have a happy Easter.

Jeff"

Jeff Tingley, Providence, Rhode Island

"Robert, the TXL-F 3WT has arrived safely and I am amazed. You are an artist – it is literally a work of art. I took it out into the sunlight and the colours and finish are fantastic. A test cast and I am salivating at the thought of fishing with this rod – short or long it just feels right. Next Wednesday I am going up into the hills for a wedding so I will be taking “sienna” J with me and if there is any likely looking water I will be into it. Thanks again for making such a terrific rod – hopefully I will get some pictures of fish next week for you.

With Regards

Peter"

Peter Lister, Balranald, NSW, Australia

In the picture on the left, Peter is fishing with a Sage One 690-4. The rod performed admirably on the 4.75 lb. New Zealand Brown that he landed. Notice how the entire rod is involved in the

fight!

Well done Peter! Peter is another Lord of the Streams multiple rod owner.

Peter with a 6.75 Lb New Zealand Brown!

"Robert,

The rod (690-4 Sage One) has arrived safely and I must say the finish is spectacular. The quality of workmanship is obvious as I unpack it and the look and feel is way above that of a factory rod. I am glad I found your site and would just like to thank you for the time and effort you have put in to make buying my first custom rod a wonderful experience.

I can’t wait now to get to New Zealand and put it to those big browns and rampant rainbows. Pictures to follow!"

Peter

PETER LISTER, BALRANALD, New South Wales, Australia

Randy Mace of St. Charles, Missouri sent in this picture of a nice rainbow that he caught on his Lord of the Streams custom Sage Z-Axis. Nice fish Randy. Great job of selecting the wraps on your rod to complement your reel as well!"Dear Bob,

So the rod finally completed it's journey across the 'pond' and through UK Customs at the end of last week. Arriving home yesterday after work, it was exciting to say the least to finally unwrap the box containing all your hard work.

And wow! What a beautiful rod! Perfect! I was amazed at how light it is but then this is my first rod of such quality and build. The Litespeed also compliments it well.

Even my wife was impressed and we both thought the certificate of ownership was a lovely touch as well as a covering letter with a lot of good sense and tips as regards rod care. I just need to get a line on the reel, plan the first outing and capture some pictures for you.

Needless to say, it has been an absolute pleasure from start to finish working with you Bob. Some fly shops here in the UK could learn a few things about consummate professionalism and customer service from you. I won't hesitate to recommend you to friends.

Best regards to you and your family...and if I ever get back to Washington State, I would love to say "thank you" in person.

Yours sincerely,

Nick"

Dear Bob,

Thanks so much for the rod. I fished with it today and it exceeded all of my expectations. It’s very sharp from an aesthetic point of view and I couldn’t be any happier. From the ease of ordering, your help over the phone, and prompt workmanship…I am impressed and will spread the word.

Take care. Jim

Thanks again for the beautiful job,

"Bob, the new baby has arrived! And she looks fabulous. Can’t wait to leave work so that I can get home and try her out. I’ll send you an update once I’ve done some yard casting.

Thanks for everything.

TJ..(.continued)

And it casts as great as it looks. I never have cast a 9’6” rod before, nor a Z-Axis. At 60’ the line shoots straight as an arrow and rod really loads up well…..of course it does have a sink tip. I noted I do have to wait just a tick more on the backcast. That’s probably due to the extra length. I imagine a floating line will behave a bit differently. Looking forward to the first hook set in Montana. Hopefully can get a good fish pic with the rod so that I can send to you.

Bob, this entire process has been enjoyable. Thanks for your superior level of customer service. You have delivered on every promise.

"Hello Bob,

My Z Axis rod arrived yesterday afternoon. The rod looks absolutely incredible. The craftsmanship, components, and attention to detail are far superior to the factory rods, a work of art.

Thanks again for working over the weekend to complete the rod. Bart and I are leaving very early tomorrow morning to fish the Fall River. I will be using my Z Axis and Bart will be using his new Winston BIIIx you just built for him.

I'm already planning my 8wt Z Axis for the upcoming Steelhead season. I will be in touch soon.

Very best regards

"Robert,

They (Sage Z-Axis and Creeklord III-M rods) look BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!!!!!!

I will without a doubt be mentioning you in every fishing conversation. Those are the most beautiful fly (rods) I have ever seen and there is no way they will not be the talk of all my guides. I will pass out your card to each shop and guide I deal with. When you carry around something as perfect as these, there will be talk. I will be your walking and talking billboard.

I will certainly send as many photos as possible. With (rods) and fish and I am sure the guides will be up to the Kodak moments.

The photos look excellent on the web site. They show your talent and craftsmanship down to the minute detail.

You have done me a great Justice and favor

Thank You from the Bottom of my Heart !!!!!!!!

"bonjour bob,

"Mr. Hudson,

This is hands down the most beautiful rod I have ever seen! Your attempt to match the thread colors to my Galvan reel turned out perfect. The attention to detail is like nothing I have ever seen on ANY other rod! I only regret that I have not been able to fish with it yet. We have had 10 to 20 degree weather, with snow, since I received it. It is only a matter of time before the weather breaks. This will not be the last rod that I have you build for me, merely the first. Thank you for making this a truly pleasant experience. I will send pics as soon as I can get on the water!

I took my youngest son Ben fishing yesterday at Lake Benmore.

He played out his largest Brown trout yet of three pounds. (On my new rod) (Sage Z-Axis 6110-4)

All worked well together :) . Best wishes for the season.

"Good morning Bob,

I just returned home last night from four days in Central Oregon. My new rod had arrived. What a beautiful piece of art. I am excited about using my new rod and hope to later this week. I appreciate and respect the time and depth you take to explain to rod owners how to care for their new investments, and it certainly shows the pride you take in creating each and every one. I am planning to show my new rod off at my upcoming fly club meeting next week although I don't think I will let anyone else touch it (well maybe they can touch). I am happy as well that I chose the full wells grip as it fits my hand perfectly. I am already planning my next investment with you.

Thank you so much for doing what you do, I couldn't be more pleased.

"Hi Bob,

I was out of town for a couple of days and returned today to my new Winston BIIx 6-wieght and matching Lamson reel. The rod is the finest I've ever owned; the workmanship is outstanding, particularly your universal attention to detail and the quality of the materials. Thank you for a great job!

The rod casts like a dream; our trout season (NH) opens April 1st and as soon as there is enough ice-free water to justify a 6-wt, I'll be using this great rod and reel combination. Thanks again, Bob, for jump starting my fishing season.

Best regards,

"Hi Bob,

The TXL arrived today, (TXL 2710-3) timing is impeccable as it is a long weekend here and I have three whole days off.

You have once again excelled yourself with this rod, it’s an object of beauty. I can’t wait to have a cast. I would have done so tonight but it was dark by the time I got home and our Autumn rains have started with an inch and a half coming down in just a couple of hours, still raining now.

I can’t get out for a fish tomorrow as our local fair is on this weekend and I’ve promised my daughter I would take her so as long as the rain eases by the morning we will have a great day for the fair and the streams will be clear again late Sunday in time for the evening rise or maybe a morning session on Monday.

Take care and all the best.

"Bob---

What a great rod (Winston BIIt 8', 4 wt., with titanium guides)- absolutely beautiful and wonderfully crafted!!!

You are an artist - your workmanship shows that - I am going to enjoy using this rod for a long time to come. I will be getting back with you about a second rod, but there is the need for you to do some fishing yourself. You had said that you were going to limit production to 50 rods/year - have you reached that number yet for the year?

Once again - thanks so much --- Mike"

I remember as a kid ordering something from the Sears and Roebuck catalog ... half the fun was waiting on the mailman to show up with the order ... So like a big kid, I have been patiently waiting on my new rod ... It arrived from Washington State on Thursday and believe me it was worth the wait ... Bob Hudson of Lord of the Streams was true to his word in making a one-of-kind rod for me ... Cyndy still says, I just don't get it ... I just grin like a chicken eating saw briers ... back to the rod ... the attention to detail is just excellent, the windings are perfect, including alignment dots and a wrap at 16, 17 and that magical 20 inches ... talk to Bob if you want a custom rod ... http://www.lordofthestreams.com/

"Bob,

I finally got home to look at the rod (Sage Z-Axis 490-4) and must say it is stunning, and absolutely a work of art. From the Amboyna insert to the windings, it is perfect. Thanks for the hard work you put in making it truly unique and hopefully I can pass it along to one of the kids or grand kids.

"Hi Bob,

My fishing season is over in upstate New York so I wanted to send a giant thank you for the great 4Wt rod that you made for me. I cast longer and more accurately than ever before . Because of your advice I bought a very light reel ... and the combination was a fine balance. With a Rio Gold line added to it the trout had no chance at all! Hope that you had a happy and prosperous summer and fall. It was a pleasure working with you.

"Dear Bob,

The rod (Sage Z-Axis 696-4) arrived yesterday safe and sound. It is just gorgeous.

Took it to a local park for a flick. Your description was spot on, powerful, fast without being extreme and whether it was the blank, the maker, or the rod-length,or a combination of all, very intuitive. The "feel" of the rod loading, then loaded, behind me was easy to experience.

It is quite the nicest rod I have ever seen.

I hope the wedding was as joyous as the newly weds would wish and, as father of the bride, your speech suitably embarrassing to the bride.

"Hi Bob,

Gail tells me that she finally took the plunge! (Referring to a friend who also ordered a Lord of the Streams Custom rod.) If she is half as happy with her new rod as I am with mine, you've done a good job! So far I haven't used anything else this season. Last week , I landed a 24" Cut up on the Clearwater and that was sooo fun, sorry no pictures but I do have witnesses.

I ended up putting a Loop reel and Loop Omni line on it and I can place my fly within an inch or 5 every time. Thanks for building this great stick for me! (note: Dale purchased a Winston BIIX 9' 5 Weight Lord of the Streams Custom rod)

"Bob,

Exquisite work. (commenting on his new LOS custom Sage TCX 890-4) Everything I'd hoped it would be. The grip -- perfect. I like the two stripper guides, too. We got the sizes correct. Wraps, too.

The Gadwall feather turned out better than I hoped. It is one of those special elements that catches the eye the second or third time one looks over the rod. Then the translucence and detail provide just one more sweet surprise.

I plan on trying the rod out this weekend. Look for a fishing report soon.

Again, thanks so much Bob,"

"Bob – Words are thrown around so freely these days, so I had a hard time deciding how to describe my “Lord of the Streams” Sage Z-Axis 890-4. I think I’ve settled on breath-taking! You did an incredible job! If the operator (me) were half as skilled at casting as you are at rod building, we’d be in great shape. I’ll let you know how we do on Bahama Bones in April. But, if I’m honest, the rod is no more impressive than the time I spent getting to know you! It was a joy and I hope we can wet a line together someday. Not only would I buy another rod from you, I will recommend you to anyone looking for one.

Thanks, and God Bless!"

"Good Morning Bob,

My new rod (Sage Z-Axis 490-2) arrived safe and sound yesterday, and I'm celebrating my 67th Birthday today with some serious living room fishing. Its beautiful in everyway. I'm sure it will cast like a dream. Thanks for your craftsmanship, for telling me about each stage of the work and for answering all my questions. I really appreciate all your thoughts about rod care. I can't believe your story about your new rod's first trip , the 20" Rainbow and the disaster that followed. We all have a story or two in a lifetime and they never go away.

I did the feedback for the rod this morning-may have forgotten to mention your good looks. In April I will be in contact again to buy a reel and line. I know that I will trust your nail knot more than mine.

I wish you a healthy and prosperous spring. Tom"

Tom Sobik, Clinton, New York, February 3, 2009

"Hi Robert,

The rod arrived today (Sage 890-4 Z-Axis) and it is beautifully crafted. I got out in the cold weather, which is relative when compared to what you have been dealing with of late, and did some casting. The Z-Axis casts exceptionally well and was quite accurate even with the strong breeze. I think it will be an excellent bonefish rod. I'm putting a new green Tibor Everglades on the rod so you can imagine just what a nice outfit it will be to fish.

I have a friend whom I'm trying to steer your way. What he will be looking for a is 10' rod in either an 8 or 9 wt. He is a short guy and wants the longer rod to help him out when steelheading. He is probably a few months away from making a decision but you can contact him with the following email address. His name is ... (Name withheld)

(name withheld)... (He) definitely wants a Sage so I told him why buy an off the shelf rod when he can have you build him a custom rod on the Sage blank of his choice?

"Good morning Bob,

Just arrived back from NC, I was at Ft. Baggg (Fayetteville) all work, no play. However I did come back with a box of good cigars from a bet. I settled in and unpacked the rod and reel. (Sage Z-Axis 590-4 and matching Lamson Litespeed LS2) I wasn't prepared for it but all I can say is WOW!!! Bob, this is simply the most beautiful fly rod I have seen period, I love it. The jungle cock inlay is amazing and the finish is superb, world class all the way.

I don't know whether to hang it on the wall and stare at it or put it in the safe to protect it. I was planning on hitting Lees Ferry this Friday but we're getting hammered with some good snow as are some places in Washington. So, it will be awhile before I get a chance to give it a dance. Two options are coming to mind, the San Juan in January and Pyramid Lake, NV. in April. If you haven't heard of Pyramid, they have gigantic Lahontan cutthroat and you fish from step ladders, it's crazy.

It was a pleasure doing business with you Bob and I appreciate your hard work and dedication to building world class rods, expect more business in the future. Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Take Care

I received my rod (Winston BIIX 690-4) today. It is perfect, beautiful, and I couldn't be more pleased! It is a pleasure doing business with you. Thank you so much for the rod and for your workmanship! I will be contacting you again in the future on other business and I hope that we meet someday.

Thanks again,

Dick"

"Hi Bob,

Rod is great! (Sage Z-Axis 690-4) I've been out a couple of times, lost a big one. Landed a 3Lb Brown yesterday. I'll send a photo, when I catch a big one.

"Last year I had Robert build for me a Sage Z-Axis 5wt. It was my first experience ordering a custom built rod. It was such a beautiful piece of work that I had him build a Sage Z-Axis 6wt for me this year. I showed my 5wt to several fishing buddies, and to a couple of veteran fishing guides that get to see and handle rods of every description. Everyone raved about the beauty of the rod, including the quality of the inscription, the pheasant feather inlay, the alignment dots, the insert, and the overall quality of the workmanship. And the Sage Z-Axis is a great blank to start with.

I was so pleased with the 5wt, I ordered a 6wt to match. I hope these rods stay in my family for several generations.

"Bob,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I had to make a trip to LA over the weekend.

The fly rod you built is simply gorgeous. (Sage Z-Axis 590-4) I really appreciate all the work you put into it. I've already recommended you to a friend. Hopefully he'll follow thru and contact you.

Thanks again for a great fly rod.

Cheers, Steve"

Steve Frison, Portland, Oregon 10/14/2008

"Bob...

Last year ( 09/02/2007 ) you built me a Sage 590-4 Z-Axis fly rod.

At this point, I feel I've spent enough hours with the rod to make an accurate review of how the rod fishes.

I always blamed my inaccurate casting on my lack of ability. If the rod was throwing left, in my mind, I should be able to use windage, throw a little more to the right, and correct the problem. However, that never seemed to work ... Thank you for providing me with a rod that cast as is should, where I'm throwing it, always. Turns out, I can cast a little.. : )

The accurate cast has given me a sense of peace, and puts a smile on my face when i hit "that spot" ..

Thank you again ... beautiful rod... truly, a joy to fish with ..

You've put countless smiles on my face.."

"Bob,

It was great to meet you in person today. I wanted to write and thank you for all you’ve done in helping me to get my sentimental rod repaired. (Sage RPL) You went far and beyond the call of duty when it comes to customer service, and you can consider your new customer a “regular” from this time forward. The rods you design are truly works of art, and I will now take much better care of my fishing “baby.” I’ll be stashing some money away for the time being, or forward you small increments, to work my way up to one of your Z-Axis rods, probably a 6 weight.

Thanks again and here’s to hoping we get a chance to fish together sometime in the near future.

Your friend,"

"Hi Bob,

I'm back from my Alaska trip, and thought I'd send you a photo. Our lodge said they had 7wt's, but didn't have enough for everyone. And that we wouldn't be fishing for Kings, as the season would be just over. I only brought my Sage Z-Axis 5 wt. (590-4) that you built for me, since we would be primarily fishing for Rainbows.

Well, I hooked and landed several Kings including this 42" one which took 1 hr and 15 min. to land! It was the big fish of the week for the

16 of us at our lodge. Two of my friends broke a 7 and 8 wt rod on lesser Kings!

I love my 5wt, its my favorite rod!

Thanks again,

Rick"

"Greetings Bob:

Two weeks isn't long enough in the Big Sky Country, but a great time was had by all.

Water conditions were a lot different than in the past few years, but fishing was great in spite of a few streams not being up to snuff. Madison River was on fire!! Big bugs, little bugs, and everything in-between. The Gallatin was still high and cold, but a few fish still screwed up and got caught. The Z-Axis you built for my brother's birthday was a hit, and improved his not slowing up and wait for the rod to load casting technique, so he could cast, and the BIIX you made for me, Well, quite simply it looked as good as it fished. Actually it might have looked better than it fished as it was in my hands, which might of held it back a bit!! But seriously your workmanship is better than my custom rod that I had Winston build for me a few years back. I've built rods and fished custom rods as well as factory rods for 45 years, and yours are second to none!!!!

Hope you're doing well, and in the near future I am going to have you build me a 6wt rod. Needing something to replace my 3 piece Winston LT as 39" tube is getting to be a hassle carrying in the airports.

Enclosed a couple of pics from Montana - (decent Grayling) out of one of my secret holes!! Attachment of Brown trout caught on your Z-Axis. If you make it to Ennis this year look up my buddy (holding Brown Trout) Jim Allison from Ennis. I don't get to fish with much as he guides everyday, and I usually don't take guided trips, but he is a long time friend and resident (1964). He knows what is going on the Madison at all times!!

Take Care!

"Dear Bob,

on this weekend I had the first fishingtrip with the new rod. There is just one to say:WONDERFULL !!!

I could position my fly more exectly as I've never done before. The rod has a perfect action for my way of cast.

The reel and the line fits perfectly to the rodand if big trout Took the fly I could net it fast.

I'llhope Ican catch lots of fish with this gear in the future.

Here are some photos of trouts from Bavaria.

Hi Bob –

I received the rod you built for me (Sage Z-Axis 690-4) and it is absolutely fantastic – even better than I imagined. I especially like the color combinations you used for the guide bindings. I really appreciate your taking the extra effort to get the rod out to me prior to your medical procedure and I will be field testing the rod in early July. I’ll try to get a picture for you. Thanks again for your wonderful craftsmanship and excellent service.

"Bob,

Hey this is Larry D Van Meter, sorry it has taken me so long to get back with u, but i wanted u to know that the rod (A Sage ZXL 490-4) is absolutely one of a kind, i luv it!!!!, it is beautiful, the most beautiful rod i have ever seen, and all my friends agree. now as far as it's casting ability, i cant comment on it as of yet, i have only put the rod together 3 times i think since i got it, and that was just to show it off. the reason i have not fished with it is i had rotator cuff surgery on april 30th, and i thought they were just gonna scope me and then i would be ready to go in a few weeks, but my luck didnt stay with me long there, they had to cut me open to get the repair done, i start therapy on this thursday, and i dont know how long it will be after that before i can truely give it a try. right now i cant even raise my arm straight out in front of me. but just as soon as i can give it a try i will let u know what i think of its casting ability.

thanks for a beautiful rod,

LD"

"Bob,

I've been able to take out my BIIX 690-4 a couple of times since I

received it from you this spring and it performed awesome on both trips.

The first trip (7 days after I received my new custom rod) I didn't have

my camera in my vest. But I did have it with me last week.

My Lord of the Streams custom BIIX 6wt is now my go to rod for nymph and

streamer fishing on my home tail waters in SE Oklahoma. If you

remember, you sold me on the Winston because of it's the soft tip for

landing bigger fish on light tippets. This fish was landed on 6x tippet

with a size 22 midge. I honestly couldn't believe it when I actually

brought this fish to hand knowing what size tippet I was fishing with.

Thanks again for making me a fabulous rod. I love it!

In Him,

Chris

P.S. Sorry the picture quality is bad, I took it with my camera phone."

"Bob,

I was very pleased to receive my "second" Lord of the Streams fly rod. As with the first 9'-5wt. this past year, I am very pleased to now own a new custom R.L. Winston Boron IIx, 9'-6wt. (690-4) rod. I very much appreciate your attention to detail, the wonderful craftsmanship, and the artisanship your put into each rod building project. Your extraordinary consideration given to the customer and your high level of customer service is exemplary. I am so happy that I found you at a time I was contemplating a decision on "what brand and model of rod" and "custom or factory rod?" I consider each of these rods to be a fine instrument and an heirloom. They will likely look about as new as they did when I received them, but with some special fishing experiences enjoyed, when I ultimately decide to pass them along to my sons. These will be something I can appreciate and enjoy but also they will have a value far beyond a typical fly rod. These are very unique and special and will get and deserve a greater degree of appreciation from me and my family who will use them in the future. I am sure there will be a third Lord of the Streams rod in my future. Thanks for taking the time and attention to detail to see that each customer receives such great service.

Just got back from my overseas flight on Sat. Apr.19th and my rod (Sage Z-Axis 590-4) was waiting for me on the dinning room table. You are truely a mastercraftsman and artist. "Hi Bob,

My rod just arrived! (Sage Z-Axis 490-4) It was even a day early. It is just gourgeous! I could not be happier. We are leaving tommorrow for a family trip to NE PA with some of the best fly fishing in the state. My oldest son called me from work this morning with the latest stream report and there have been a few light hatches the last couple of days. The weather has warmed up a little bit, so this weekend should be wonderful. I will give it a good workout. Thanks for all your help walking me through the ordering process, I certainly do appreciate it. Thanks again.

My rod and reel arrived today. (Winston BIIX 490-4) I couldn’t be more pleased with your work. The rod is absolutely beautiful. The wraps look great. It is truly a work of art. "Hi Bob,

Hope you had a very relaxing vacation. I got my rod on the 4th just as planned. (Sage Z-Axis 590-4). It is absolutely beautiful. I could not have asked for better quality of workmanship and detail. Thanks again!

"Bob,

I received my rod this afternoon. Winston Boron IIX 690-4) It's absolutely beautiful and the workmanship is even better than I imagined. The pictures on your website, although impressive, don't do your work justice. You truly have to see it in person to appreciate it....and I do.

As you know, I had you ship the rod, reel, & line to my work location which arrived at my office on the afternoon mail run. Well you can guess what I did right? Of course.... I hop in the car immediately and head to a nearby vacant lot so I can assemble the rod, line it, and give it a cast! It is soooo smooth and honestly doesn't even feel like a 6wt. I'd swear it was no more than a 5wt if someone happen to hand it to me and cast it without looking at the label. I think the new Rio Gold line is a great combination with this rod....hopefully you got a chance to try it out yourself!

I want to thank you again for the personal service that you provided every step of the way. It made my first custom rod purchase a truly enjoyable experience. I also wanted to especially thank you for going above and beyond to finish my rod way ahead of schedule in order to accommodate an upcoming trip I have planned. You didn't have to do that I really appreciate it.

Finally and most importantly, I wanted to tell you how much I admire the way you live out your faith in Christ in your business dealings. It takes extra courage, boldness, and conviction to do that and I'm sure our Lord is pleased with the honor and glory that you bring to Him. I also want you to know that you and your family continue to be lifted up in prayer.

Safe travels while visiting your mom and I will send you some photos of my first catch using my new Lord of the Streams custom BIIX in a couple of weeks (hopefully I will be able to use my handy 16 & 20" markings to size up a couple!)

Take Care & God Bless,

Chris"

"Hello Bob,

First, sorry that I not reply earlier. I spent my weekend together with my father (you know he is very ill), So I came back yesterday night and was too tired to check my mails...

Now to pleasing things: Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I received my "Trout Magnet." !!!!!!!!!!!(Sage 696-4 Z-Axis) Wow! Wow! Wow!

Bob I can’t find all the word that I want to say to you in English, but you are the best and greatest artist for me! What a beauty!! It’s magic! I’ve had never cast a rod like this before! I’m so happy about it! For me it’s birthday, x-mas and new year all together since I hold and cast it! It’s the first time that I cast a 9’6’’ rod, I like it. It’s so easy to cast and so powerful although smoothly and fine feeling. I can cast easy a lot of meter more, I think it’s the perfect Lake or Stream rod for long casts. I’d never had meant that 6’’ would make so much difference. Ok, it’s my first Z-Axis that I cast, maybe all of them are so magic to cast. I can hardly expect it to catch my first fish with it. Bob thank you very much once again!!

I promise to you that this is not the last rod that you build for me, now I have to safe my money that I can order another rod from you, it’s a long hard way but I have my target!

Till soon and thank you for all, best wishes & friendly greetings

"Bob,

I just wanted to let you know that I received the 590-4 ZXL rod you made for me and how much I like it. You did a magnificent job on the rod and I am very pleased with it. I know some guys that are going to be jealous when they compare their factory rod to mine. I’m afraid they aren’t going to believe me when I tell them how much more they had to pay and still didn’t get the features I have on mine.

Everything about this purchase has been first class. The rod tube and bag are of the finest quality and the Certificate of Authenticity and instructions you sent with the rod is something you would never get with a factory rod. All this at less than the factory price for the same rod!

It has been a pleasure doing business with someone who takes the time to make each item and detail as good as it can be done from beginning to the end. My next new rod purchase will definitely be from Lord of the Streams and I am going to recommend you to all my friends. Take care.

"Dear Bob,

Just a short note to let you know that I picked up the rod (Sage Z-Axis 690-4) this morning at my local post office. It's a hot day over here and I'm sitting in my office looking out at the hot northerly winds. There's a cool change due over the weekend so I'm sure I'll be out and about then.

Bob, my sincere thanks for your professional approach to undertaking prompt repairs to my rod. Whilst none of us wish to be in the position to test the strength of warranties, it is so refreshing to know that your warranty does exactly what it says it will.

Thanks Bob, your approach has been absolutely first class.

"Bob

I was really pleased today to finally get a chance to examine the Sage Z-Axis 5wt rod you built for me. I'm happy with every aspect of the rod including the amboyna insert, the inscription, the pheasant feather inlay, the windings.... it's a beautiful piece. One touch I really like is the small dots to ensure proper alignment when putting the rod together. My only regret is that it will be several months before I actually get to fish with it given the arrival of winter.

This rod is certainly the highlight of my rod collection. It will be a joy just to handle it, and even better to play a fish.

Thanks for a job well done.

Sorry for getting back with you so late from when I received the rod (Winston BIIX 690-4) (I was out of town a bit and extremely busy since). Anyway, the rod is beautiful...wonderful craftsmanship! I have only had the chance to fish with it for about 30 minutes at my pond a few nights ago. It casts beautifully. "Bob,

The rod (Sage Z-Axis 590-4) was picked up by my wife Saturday morning and delivered to me at work... While at work, a co-worker thought it would be hilarious if they put the box in the trash while I was with a patient. I normally don't yell at my co-workers but needless to say, that person was extremely embarrassed when I asked loud enough to be heard throughout the department where my $900 flyrod was (LOS comment- rod, reel and line package).

Following that incident, I immediately opened the box and admired the rod. Extremely fine work, the Certificate of Authenticity is a nice touch. At first I thought it was a generic form letter, but reading it, you obviously write them specifically for the rod in question, which is very cool. My co-workers who fish don't flyfish, but were impressed nonetheless. I quickly wrapped it all back up and placed it in the safety of my truck.

After work, my fishing buddy and I met and departed for Utah. As there was snow forecast at higher elevations, we opted to fish the Sevier River on Sunday until the weather improved. Sunday morning at 0630 I awoke and assembled the gear. I let him check out my new rod and he thought it was very nice (he wrapped saltwater rods in San Diego prior to moving to Vegas), and commented on the quality craftsmanship. We geared up and walked about 1.5 miles downstream and worked our way back up towards camp. What followed was the most productive day of fishing in my life.

I began the morning with a #14 Adams but had no luck. I then switched to a #12 Hare's Ear below a chernobyl ant. This was the combo. I landed 40+ rainbows and browns in the next few hours, all on the original ant and dropper. I have never caught that many fish in one day, and never have I had a rig last an entire trip. I didn't have to retie the rest of the day, although towards dusk, I switched to a PMD and landed about 10 more before calling it a day.

The next morning we set out again, and I tied on the original chernobyl and hare's ear again. Again the combination produced in mass numbers. By the time we reached a pool that was ideal for streamers, I had landed another ~15. As I switched to a sculpin, I commented to my buddy about the rig and told him I was going to retire it. He was surprised it was the same rig as the day before. When the streamers were'nt working I switched to a chernobyl with a caddis nymph dropper. This rig produced as well and helped me land another ~15. I switched to a dry at dusk and caught 3 more browns, then called the trip done. What a great adventure, and what a way to break in a new rod and reel. Thanks for your efforts in getting it to me in time!!!

Alas, we have NO pictures as my friend refused to lug his digital SLR along for the trip (weight & not water resistant) and mine is old and the batteries won't hold a charge. A new camera is my next purchase. I will send pictures for our next trip, I can only hope my luck is as good as this trip.

Take care!

Just got back from Russia and held that beautiful 3 Wt. (Mike's second Lord of the Streams Custom Rod) I can’t wait to fish it. Traveling to Russia I carried a 5#, 6#, your 7# and an 8#. For two weeks I only fished one rod and I bet you can guess which one it was.

If you haven’t been to Kamchatka, I hope you, one way or another, find a way to spend some time fishing over there. I’ve fished my whole life and I think this was the highlight of all my traveling.

I tried to get some pictures of trout and your rod, but it was hard. I thought I could get a good picture with the fish and the rod lying on the grass, but the fish wouldn’t cooperate and was only interested in getting back to the bottom of the river. I guess he was camera shy.

Again thanks,

Mike"

"Good morning (I think) Bob,

It's a sunny spring morning here. Unfortunately I'm sitting at my desk looking out the window. However, the rod (Sage Z-Axis 690-4) did arrive yesterday and I did manage a cast in a pond in the local park. It performs perfectly and it is truly beautiful. I was very impressed by the standard of work and the unique features. I'm off to one of my local waters this weekend to take it for it's first real fish.

Thank you for your very professional approach. The high quality of workmanship combined with your very friendly and professional manner have made it a pleasure to do business with you.

Yours sincerely,

Philip"

"Bob,

I revceived the rod today. (Sage Z-Axis 490-4) It is beautiful and I cannot wait to cast it. I am trying to send you some business. A co worker wants a Winston Boron.

Thanks! This has been a fun process and the letter of authenticity is cool to have.

Thanks again,

Tom"

"Bob,

Hope you had a good fishing trip.

Got my rod (Sage Z-Axis 590-4) and wanted to get back to u with a few thoughts.

First I removed the rod from the sock and examined it, looked really nice.

Then I examined it under my fly tying magnifier lamp. Such nice work. I can almost feel the effort you put in this rod. OK, rained a few days, have got to lawn cast the rod twice in the back yard. Just got back in from my second session with the rod. What a beautiful rod in the sunlight! Coming from my Sage 5wt xp, this rod feels lighter and seems to cast effortlessly. What a joy to cast! It's been windy here in Iowa, but as near as I can tell, it's the most accurate rod I've cast. This is the most expensive rod I've cast and I'm not an expert, but most of my other rods don't seem to cast consistently. I could use a little Kentucky windage if they went left or right, but they seem to be a little random. Maybe it's just me. But... like I said, this rod seems to be consistent and cast where I think it should.

So bottom line.

Thanks Bob for making this rod for me.

I'm sure it will remain in my family for years. "

Dear Bob,

I returned earlier this week from an extended trip to Michigan. The flyrod which you crafted specifically for me (Sage Z-Axis 690-4) was here when I arrived. I was blown away! While I haven't had an opportunity to use it on the water, I have matched it with my Abel Super 6 reel and tried a few casts on the front lawn. I have no doubt that it will perform extremely well and will bring me good fortune.

The wrappings and the seat on the rod are wonderful. ... I am leaving within minutes but I didn't want a week to go by before I let you know how pleased I am. Thanks for your efforts - your attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Truly,

Keith

Hello Bob,

Just to let you know that I have received my rod and reel today. (Sage Z-Axis696-4 and Lamson LS2 Hard Alox reel)

It looks fantastic and I can't wait to get casting it down the river. We have a great run of small salmon fresh in from the sea and hopefully I will be able to christen this beauty with a suitable catch.

Thanks again,

"Hi Bob,

...it (the rod - Sage Z-AXIS 590-4) came yesterday. ... It looks and casts GREAT! Took it out on the lawn (water here is still blown out and brown), and thought it cast alot more effortlessly that my 5wt Sage SP 8'6". And I seemed to have better control or accuracy. Hoping the river clears by tomorrow, I think I'll run over to the Animas and cast it over water anyway!

I liked the letter of authenticity and how to care for your rod tips sheet, along with everything else. Thanks again for the sock and case!

I'll definitely try to steer business your way whenever any of my friends look for a new rod or related equipment you offer.

Thanks again,

Rick"

Bob,

The Rod (Sage Z-Axis 796-4) arrived yesterday, and I am delighted with it! I must congratulate you on your workmanship. They actually tried to deliver it on Friday, but everyone just happened to be out.

I have not cast a line with it yet, but it feels like it is going to be a real "line cannon".

I hope to be fishing on Saturday, and with a bit of luck will christen it then. Even if I fail to catch I know I am going to make my fishing buddy very jealous indeed!

Many thanks once again for your superb service, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.

All good wishes,

David.

"Dear Bob,

An extra surprise...the rod (Sage 590 Z-Axis) arrived Sat. night! That was it, I had to fish Sunday.

Headed off to the Deerfield at 6AM. 5-10 casts into the morning.....bam.....a 10" rainbow

Now let me take a step back.....the rod is beautiful. I love the handle wood and color. The balance is perfect with my reel. The dots on each section are a great touch for lining all sections up. I was able to shoot some good line across the river and into the wind.

I did not have a camera...not expecting this to arrive until Monday....I just charged right out. Well there will a "next" time really fast.

Thank you for all the fine workmanship. Your time and effort really paid up. "

"Dear Bob,

I just love my beautiful fly rod! (Sage 590 Z-Axis) You made me something gorgeous and I will treasure it forever. Thank you!

I have hired a guide to take me out on the Mad River on Thursday. I'll bring my camera in hopes that there will be a photo op.

And thank you also for telling me about the Lamson reel. I can't wait to get out on the water!

Bob, someday I'm going to look you up when I get back to Washington State and thank you in person. Until then, please accept my heartfelt gratitude.

"Hello Bob-

The rod (Sage 590 Z-Axis) arrived yesterday just as planned. That’s remarkable service from Spokane for standard FexEx. Even though I was excited to open the box I did not have a chance until today. Wow, very, very nice work! I took the rod outside to see all the detail in the direct sunlight and it’s one of the nicest rods I have ever seen (not over stated, just very well stated) perfect."

Cheers,

"Hey Bob,

Okay, Christmas morning arrived today and I anxiously opened your present (Sage Z-Axis 590) to me!!!! Wow, absolutely gorgeous and the wrapping on the rod is just perfect. It looks stunning with the gold and chestnut. Perfect penmanship and the little quote definitely is an addition to the rod, as well as your signature. Everything turned out just as I was hoping for and you were extremely helpful and very easy to work with. You did an outstanding job and I wouldn't hesitate to work with you again on another rod or recommend you to one of my friends. Best wishes in the future and I hope sometime we can fish together either in MT or WA. I will let you know when I plan on being in MT right now I'm setting up plans to be there ...(Date withheld for privacy by L.O.S.) I will be out again in ... but I don't have the final dates for that trip. You will receiving a photo of me, your rod and a fish as soon as I get to put the fly rod to use. Thanks again.

Hi Bob,

"...the rod (Sage Z-Axis 890-4) arrived in perfect shape and it is beautiful ... it is far more beautiful than what I was looking for! The thing that amazes me also is the balance - it feels so perfectly balanced in my hand/arm. I am very sad to say that I haven't had a chance to get out with it yet other than practice casting in the yard and too little of that so far.

We are in the middle of tearing out and redoing a kitchen so by the time the work day is over and the evenings/weekends come, that's what we are doing. But I am anxious to get out and go fishing. As soon as I have the opportunity, especially when I catch the first fish, you will get the first picture!

To simply say thank you seems inadequate - the first fish will really be a thrill. I love the pheasant feathers in the inlays - that was a surprise and subtle but so rich.

So, yes it is here and I am thrilled!

Watch for a picture!

"Bob,

Just picked up the rod (Sage Z-Axis 590-4). Not because I didn't want it ASAP but I think I mentioned I've been traveling quite a bit. Got to tell you I am thrilled with the look. I've already forwarded your website to a couple of friends but once they see this rod they would have to be crazy not to call you. I can't thank you enough for the great communication during the building process and the level of craftsmanship exhibited in the final product. I'm sure you have plenty of endorsements but if you ever need a testimonial I would be pleased to vouch for the quality of your work and your professionalism.

I am sure we will be in touch again and I will send you a photo soon.

"Hi Bob,

I've now had a chance to get out for a fish with the new TCR (690-4), what a fantastic rod, completely different to the Z-Axis (690-4) and extremely fast. My thoughts on the two rods are;

Z-Axis - This is a real "fishing" rod and will be a fantastic river rod when accuracy, line control and a bit of finesse is needed, It will cast a full fly line if needed, which would be very rare on any of the Australian or New Zealand rivers that I fish. It is an extremely good dry fly rod and subtle enough to enable the most delicate of presentations. Very easy rod to cast and a pleasure to fish with.

TCR - Definitely a lake rod, it is capable of picking up a large amount of line quickly and easily for a fast and long cast to rising fish. It will turn over the line easily even with a large, heavy wet fly. Certainly not the easiest rod to cast but then very fast rods generally are not. I found it perfect for long accurate casts even in windy conditions and with a decent double haul it will shoot the full fly line with two false casts. No problems playing a fish, landed a 9lb brown with it yesterday afternoon.

I think for me the two rods are a perfect combination. Thanks again for a wonderful couple of rods."

"Bob,

Used the rod yesterday, (Winston BIIX 590-4) and it was really nice! I went up to the Jemez area of New Mexico. I was pretty worried that the streams would be blown out as the run off is still happening and because of the rain in the last few weeks we have had.

After scouting out several local streams for clarity, I ended up in one of my favorites, the Jemez River north of Jemez Springs. Tje water was a little cloudy and high. With the run off and the weather I figured the fishing would be fairly slow. It was 45 degrees and very cloudy. I started fishing with an Adams and a pheasant tail on a dropper. I could not see the Adams in the water with the run off and the glare on the water. After about 20 minutes of worrying that I was missing strikes, I changed to a stimulator and a gold ribbed hares ear on the dropper (bead head) and lengthened the distance between the flies to see if I could get a trout's attention.

After maybe 5 minutes of changing my flies, I caught two trout. Then it started to snow like crazy. With alternating sun, snow and thunder I fished for a few more hous and couaght a few more fish. I even caught two fish on the the stimulator.

On the walk back to the truck it started to hail furiously. It was a great day fishing!

The rod looks beautiful and casts fantastically as well. I am so proud to own a custom Winston. The base and mid section are very stiff but the tip is quite supple. I have little doubt I wll be begging you to build a few more rods for me in the future. I love the Lamson reel. It is so light and easy to operate. It is a very good match to the Winston rod. I cannot say how impressed I am with the job that you did.

Thanks so much,"

Hello Bob,

"I was out of town last week when they tried to deliver (the rod-590-4 Z-Axis). I Picked it up at the post office today and it is absolutely gorgeous! The wraps are great and the reel seat (Amboyna) is even prettier than I expected . I especially like the alignment dots, that is a nice touch. I would be happy to stand as a reference if you need one. Probably will have you build a rod for my wife later on in the year. "

"Good morning Bob,

I finally got home late last night from my Seattle FAA conference trip… and there was the package from you. I was just able to barely greet my wife and daughter before opening the package. To say that I am pleased would be a major understatement! You are truly an artist. My new rod (Winston BIIX 690-4) is amazing, the windings and the wood used are so awesome and could not have come out better. I cannot wait to use it... Please feel free to use me as a reference for your work any time. I will get some digital photos of me and this rod in action to you soon I hope. I will also e-mail you of my upcoming fishing trip locations to see if we can connect in person. My company also is now doing work at the Spokane Airport so I may get to come up your way with work.

Take Care and God Bless you and your business."

The rod (Sage 586 Z-Axis) arrived safe and well today! It is all I expected and a lot more. You truly are a talented individual. I will let you have a photo of the first fish I catch with the rod. Thank you so much for your service and I will definitely be in touch with another order.

I have had the rod out on the garden and it casts like a dream. All that remains is to catch a trout or a grayling now!!

Thank you once again,

The rod (Sage 690 Z-Axis) just arrived and it looks fantastic! I wish I was going to have an opportunity to try it out before I leave for Ireland but I guess I'll have to wait until I get back. "Hi Bob,

Just got back in after a quick 2 hour session this morning to try out the new rod.

What a beautiful piece of work, it's a masterpiece and an absolute dream to cast. It was windy this morning but I found that I could double haul most a full line into the wind if I needed to, not that I really do need to that often. Oh, by the way, the rod was "blooded" on it's second cast with a fantastic 6lb Brown taking a small size 14 damsel nymph. Got 2 other fish for the 2 hours I was on the water, both heavier, one around 10lb. The rod handled them with no problem.

Wouldn't you guess, I forgot to take my camera, but no problems, I will go back tomorrow or the next day and catch a couple more, the lake is only 20 minutes drive away.

Thanks for a fantastic rod, a couple of friends that saw the rod this morning have asked for the details so they may be in touch with you.

Kind regards,

"Hi Bob,

The rod (Sage 690 Z-Axis) arrived safely this morning, just in time for our Easter break this weekend, thanks.

It looks fantastic, I'm absolutely delighted. I can't wait to get out on the water and give it a try. I've got a new Hardy Sirrus reel that will suit it beautifully and it will be a great match for my 4 weight Z-Axis (also with a Hardy reel)....

Again, thanks for doing a fantastic job, I'll email you some photos when I get amongst some of those 8lb Browns.

"Bob...This is a fine day indeed,

As I opened the box today, screwed off the lid of the rod tube, opened the rod sock in anticipation and removed my PERSONALIZED CUSTOM BUILT R.L.Winston Boron IIx -(9' 5wt. 4 piece)- fly rod, the only words that describe this rod is "ABSOLUTELY STUNNING." What a fine creation!

I searched for months before I found "Lord of the Streams" because I wanted more than a factory fly rod. From the very first email I sensed something very special about your philosophy of business and dedication to customer satisfaction. It is rare indeed to find such personalized attention, impeccable customer service, helpful attitude, and such a commitment and desire to excel to what I call "Legendary Customer Service." You answered every question in detail (and there were many) and showed interest at every point in delivering a unique rod that is certainly an heirloom of the future. Your assistance in selecting each component: seat, insert, windings, inlay, and design characteristics is truly beyond all expectations. Your "artisan" talents are very much recognized and appreciated. And, your communication during the entire process is such a delight and builds the value of your! passion in creating a "work of art" that will be cherished.

There will certainly be more Bob Hudson "Lord of the Streams" rods in my future. I already have the next one in mind, albeit, a simpler process this next time due to your counseling and expert advice. Bob, there are few opportunities in life to have such a "rare and quality" experience, you have achieved a "master's touch" in a way that can be valued by all who share this very special experience and customer relationship with YOU."

Hello,

"This is my first custom built rod (Winston BIIX 4 wt.). I really did not know exactly how I wanted the rod built and what options were available. Bob was there to guide me through the process; it was an enjoyable experience.

What I like about this Winston 4wt Boron IIX rod that Bob Hudson built for me is the action of the rod. The rod loads very easy for the close range casts and the rod has plenty of power for the long distance cast as well. This rod has the exact performance I was looking for.

This is a beautiful rod, thanks Bob. It was a pleasure working with you."

"Wow.........The rod (Winston BIIX 9' 4wt.) arrived today and it is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, it is also snowing so I can't even go out to dry cast it (well, I could but I'll wait). ...Also, please send some more business cards ... and brochures - I'll take them to our TU banquet in March when I show off the rod.

I'll keep you posted on my experience with the rod and send a photo when that 1st fish is caught.

Thanks so much for your prompt service, constant communications, and excellent workmanship."

Hello Bob,

Well finally I am able to send you a fish photo with my Winston

BIIx 9ft 4 wt you built this past winter. I went through the early

season photographing fish caught with a disposable that yielded

sub-standard results when digitized. I just bought a new Canon SD 750

and managed to get a nice fish last night during a massive spinner fall

of our eastern Green Drake hatch (we call the spinners Coffin Flies).

Actually, I've caught close to 100 fish on the rod since March 14

(which is doing quite well for my skill level). I feel I've been able

to gain 15-20 feet of distance in my casting due to the Winston and my

back yard practice sessions with it.

Everyone who sees the rod is impressed with the workmanship.

Thanks so much.............

Bob:

I just returned from my business trip and was delighted to find the rod (Winston BIIX 9' 6wt.) had been delivered. It is beautiful, and I could not be more pleased with the workmanship and the finishings you selected. Absolutely, first rate! I can't wait to cast and fish it. I'll be sure to send you a photo, when I get a really nice fish. I have a trip planned to Alaska this July and ordered the rod especially for that trip. I'll be fishing the rod before then, but should have some great photos to share later. We have a good tailwater that runs thought Atlanta, the Chattahoochee River (which is the source of water for the city). The dam is forty miles north and the stretch of river from the dam to Atlanta supports rainbows and browns. This is the time of year when streamers and nymphs are the ticket, so I'll have an opportunity over the next week or so to try the rod. I'll send you a follow up email after I've fished it. It's been a pleasure doing business with you.

Bob,

I have a feeling that I’ll never want to cast a stock rod again. You’ve gone and spoiled me!

"Hi Bob,

The rod (Winston Boron II X 9' 4 wt.) arrived here an hour ago. Only time for a few casts on the lawn before

dark & cold drove me in, but it's a terrific rod!!

Seems to fit me to a T, and I want to thank you for the advice, as well as the

craftsmanship. It's a beautiful piece of workmanship, and you're right, I do

love the color scheme.

Will let you know how I fare blooding it.

Thanks again."

Mark

"Hi Bob,

My day astream was better than yours, but I only managed to get out for an hour

and a half the other day to try to blood the rod, so the pressure was on.

It's a dream to cast! I simplified my usual nymphing rig while I learned the

rod's nuances, but that wasn't necessary. We understood each other instinctively

and it did all I asked of it from the first cast. The stream in question was one

of my smaller limestoner's, so no distance casting to speak of, although I did

manage a few around 30'. Most importantly, it was as you promised, incredibly

accurate. It took me all of an hour to finally hook up with a trout, but it was

a lovely stream-bred rainbow in glorious color, so the rod now knows what its

mission in life is...Thank you again for a tremendous rod. I'll be happily recommending you & passing

out your cards at my next TU meeting."

"...we cannot wait to take your piece of art work (Sage XP696-4) to the Yampa and try it out.... Hey Bob, I fished Brenda's xp yesterday on the Blue River and caught 6nice rainbows and it is a wonderful rod indeed, casts wonderfully, very sensitive, and a pleasure to look at. Brenda ask for a report and I said I liked it a little bit better than my Winston and she replied that it was her rod (emphaticly). So I guess I only get to test it this time. I will give you a report when she fishes with it. The weather was awful here in Denver last weekend so we will try again shortly. Thanks a million! John.

Ps I forgot to take your flies along and was torqued when I got to the blue without them. Talk to you soon."

Bob,

"It is truly unusual to find a business with the combination of high quality craftsmanship, a willingness to take the time to share personal experience/knowledge, and a genuinely nice person – that characterizes Lord of the Streams!

I have been looking for the right high quality fly rod for sometime. After multiple visits to fly shops, I decided the Winston BIIX was the right rod. While I was not sure on the weight, I knew that I wanted something different than just another factory rod – I wanted a custom rod. Bob, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the rod you built as well as the knowledge and patience guiding me through my buying process. The after-purchase help selecting the right line and a Lamson LS2 reel for this rod was so much appreciated.

The Winston BIIX 5WT you built is more than I could have hoped for – so beautiful and customized with my name. The rod, reel, and line combination casts with laser accuracy and has such a gentle presentation. The only ones disappointed are the fish – however, I unfortunately did not get a chance to use the 20” size marker that you so gracefully and eloquently placed on the rod … but I will keep trying.

Please feel free to share my comments with customers and use me as a reference. Again, thanks for a quality rod/reel, the quick turnaround, and all the help."

All the best,

Mark

"Hi Robert,

Sorry it's taken this long to reply, things have been rather tornadic around here. The construction industry has a habit of taking off like a rocket this time of year. Enough about work, the rod ( Sage 490XP) is beautiful, the workmanship is excellent, the detail is exactly what one would like to see in a custom made rod. ...its been out of the rod-tube several times, shown to my very few fanatical flyfishing friends, they agree, from the fit of the reel seat to the wrapping, to the subtle way of inscribing my name and the length markings on the blank, the rod is certainly something to show off. please feel free to share my comments with other potential customers, they will not be disappointed. ...Thanks for a quality rod, the quick turnaround, and the followup. Oscar"

"I received the rod ( Sage 590-4XP) and I love it! It is much better than my previous Scott which will now be my backup rod. Thanks a lot, I will let you know when I need another rod built."
