We are currently reviewing the Supreme Court's decision on the Internet Sales Tax.

At this time we do not know the total impact that this decision may have on us and whether or not it will put us out of business or stop our sales to the USA. As a Lord of the Streams Client, we thought that you should know that this very short sighted decision could negatively impact our company as well as literally millions of other American small business. However, it will have no impact on foreign companies selling their wares inside the USA.
The reasons are simple to understand for everyone except possibly activist judges.
First, we are a small company. If you are reading this, you know our products. Our prices are very reasonable as you also know. We have been able to keep our prices reasonable due to our business model that we have structured for low overhead costs. We cannot afford to pay for high priced accountants or expensive computer programs or the people to run them in order to track sales tax rates throughout the USA and to then remit a portion of our hard earned money to all of the individual states. We also cannot afford to be audited by 10,000 different taxing jurisdictions! Even if we could afford to do so, we would not. We would rather go out of business than subsidize these jurisdictions with our hard earned money. This Country was founded on principles that included "NO TAXATION Without REPRESENTATION. Have you ever heard of any more blatant example of the violation of this Principle than the paying of taxes to 10,000 jurisdiction in which we do not reside?
Politicians say that the internet sales tax proposal is about fairness. It is not. It is only about growing government revenues and making tax collectors out of small businesses.
This is just another anti-business, anti-freedom proposal coming from biased politicians and activist judges. These people are either complete idiots when it comes to understanding how the economy and business works, or they simply do not care who they put out of business.
The bottom line is this. If you want to be able to do business with us and other businesses like us in the future, please email your Senators and Congressmen and tell them to come up with a small business remedy.
If you don't speak up, custom rod makers and other small business will probably go under. We have heard that the Congress is considering including an exemption for small businesses in the law. However, when we contacted our own representative, her office had no concept of the ramifications of this decision. That is not satisfactory. No business should have to be a tax collector for any political subdivision in which they do not reside whether they are big or small.
If this simpleton decision remains in effect, and we are forced to collect taxes for other states, our first step will be to refuse to sell any of our products to anyone living in the United States. We have clients in 34 countries and and all 50 states. We will only sell products to the other 33. Isn't it nice that the our Supreme Court wants to drive business out of the USA, again?
All businesses have the opportunity to do business on the web. Some have chosen not to. We, who have chosen to do business on the web, should not be punished because some "brick and mortar" stores that don't do business on the web are no longer competitive. That should be their problem, not ours.
